My son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 8 years old and I had no clue what that meant for his growth and development. I did some basic research that educated me enough to reject the doctor’s recommendations to medicate him. The guidance I received from Afrika to address the issues was impeccable. She asked some questions about the diagnosis and about the school then she shared a very detailed plan on what needed to be done. She shared my responsibilities as well as the responsibilities of the school. I followed her advice and was able to set up an IEP. This advice gave me the confidence to advocate for my son and hold the school accountable for following what was agreed in the IEP. Positive results were shown after a few weeks of following the IEP.
